Femcatholic is a media and reporting organization focused on issues that matter to Catholic Women. Femcatholic values truth, love, and courage, and strives to create honest dialogue about faith, women's experiences, and sharing a pro-woman Catholic perspective.
Femcatholic partnered with Caitlin Hottinger Design to create the logo and visual identity for their organization. We also collaborated on the logo and graphics for one of their most successful campaigns, Building a Civilization of Love, which is directed towards promoting paid family leave within the Catholic Church.
The logo design for Femcatholic represents women, femininity, strength, and the Catholic faith. The icon element is comprised of a geometric representation of the sign for female combined with a cross. Then typography is customized to mimic the geometry of the core symbol, with distinctive serifs that exude a feminine and editorial feel. The brand tagline, "where Catholocism meets feminism" is a distinct summary of Femcatholic's mission.
Beyond the primary logo, we designed supporting brand marks and illustrations. Femcatholic is "for women and for the church" — a motto we created into a supporting brand emblem. We also created several vibrant and colorful brand illustrations, including illustrations of women, bibles, educational resources, community, and the church.
The end result of this logo design and brand identity for Femcatholic is a colorful, inviting, and hopeful brand that encourages women to explore and deepen their faith, support other women, stand up for their feminist beliefs, and engage deeply with their faith community.
