Cathedral is a typeface inspired by the architecture of a church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Cathedral began as an ornamental font characterized by rose-window-inspired counters and unpredictable terminals. From there I built seven more variations. These are legible at smaller scales for display and text purposes. These weights generally retain the same letterforms as the ornamental, but are drawn to accommodate open counters.
Cathedral Ornamental and Cathedral Black include a set of dingbats, borders, and corners that are also inspired by architectural forms. These dingbats, borders, and corners can be rearranged to form illustrated buildings for decorative purposes.
