Caitlin Hottinger Design teamed up with the brand Rupert + Co to create a custom, fall-themed pattern collection for their printed dog bandanas and pet accessories.
Rupert + Co makes custom pet accessories and is most famous for their monthly bandana subscription. The subscription is a fun way for pet owners to pamper their dogs or cats each month, with stylish and unique accessories. For their October 2023 subscription, Rupert + Co featured custom artwork created by Caitlin Hottinger Design.

For this custom pattern collection, we were inspired by one of the greatest joys of Fall — a long walk in the woods under falling leaves with cute dogs and loved ones. The collection consists of a hero pattern and one coordinate pattern. In surface design collections, a hero pattern is the central, most eye-catching pattern, while coordinate patterns are more subtle and are made to complement the hero pattern.

For the hero pattern, we started by sketching several scenes of walking through the woods, and then compiled each sketch into a unified autumn pattern. After creating the "Fall Walk" hero pattern, we created a coordinating print featuring leaves and pumpkins for an extra festive set of autumn print designs to round out the collection.
