Caitlin Hottinger Design collaborated with interior designer Lauren Arwood to create a custom wallpaper design exclusively for Lauren's clients.
Lauren Arwood Creative is a small interior design firm based in Georgia. I was thrilled to be able to collaborate with Lauren's studio on an exclusive wallpaper design for their clients.
Lauren's vision for the wallpaper design was inspired by her favorite plant, bamboo, as well as her love for Chinoiserie-inspired designs. She also wanted to utilize vivid, intense colors that would lend themselves to creating a "focal point room" in a home.
We began the wallpaper design process by researching and gathering inspiration for the color palette, motifs, and composition. After looking at mood boards and narrowing in on a creative direction, I sketched out the basic pattern structure and motifs that would be included.
After sketching out the composition, I hand painted the bamboo, birds, and floral motifs with acrylic paint on Stonehenge paper. From there, I scanned the paintings at super high resolution and digitally arranged the elements to create a pleasing and seamlessly repeating pattern. This pattern is a large-scale half-drop repeat, which is perfect for adorning interior walls.
After finalizing the pattern design, we tried out various color combinations and looked at print samples to ensure the final colors looked accurate when printed.
It was such a joy to collaborate with Lauren Arwood Creative on this exclusive wallpaper design!
