Rebranding Concept
Chicago's Christkindlmarket is an outdoor holiday market filled with seasonal spirit, local vendors, traditional food and drink, and all sorts of merriment. It is a tradition modeled after the Nuremberg Christkindlmarket, and rooted in old Germanic folklore. I wanted to create a typographic logo and identity system that reflected the market's rich history as well as its bright and cheery holiday spirit.
The mark is a modified blackletter typeface with altered terminals to give it a feeling of lightness. The ornate swashes emphasize the ornamental and festive feeling of the logo. The pattern elements are holiday ornaments comprised of swashed taken directly from the wordmark. These allow for a dynamic, flexible and uniform identity system throughout collateral.
